You are an independent contractor, NOT an employee of Uncle Rental.This means:
- No salary or guaranteed income
- No Mandatory Provident Fund contributions
- No annual leave or sick leave
- No employment benefits
- You set your own schedule and rates
- You control how you work
- You are self-employed
1. Acceptance & Eligibility
1.1 Your Agreement
By becoming an uncle on Uncle Rental, you:
- Agree to these Terms
- Confirm you are 21 years or older
- Accept independent contractor classification
- Understand you are not an employee
1.2 Age Requirement
You must be at least 21 years old. We verify this during the application process.
1.3 Policy Updates
We may update these Terms with 30 days notice.
Continued use = acceptance of updated Terms.
2. Independent Contractor Status
2.1 What This Means
You are self-employed and run your own business. No employment relationship exists between you and Uncle Rental under Hong Kong law.2.2 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Paying your own taxes
- Mandatory Provident Fund (if applicable)
- Your own insurance (recommended)
- Your own equipment and materials
2.3 No Employee Benefits
You do NOT receive:
- Salary or guaranteed income
- MPF contributions from Uncle Rental
- Annual leave or paid time off
- Sick leave or medical leave
- Health insurance
- Severance or long-service payment
2.4 Your Autonomy
You control:
- When you work (your schedule)
- Your hourly rate (HK$100–10,000/hour)
- Which bookings you accept
- How you provide services
- Your work methods and approach
3. Uncle Application & Approval
3.1 Application Process
3.2 Verification
We verify:
- Government-issued ID matches profile
- Your name and age
- Photo matches ID
- Age is 21 or older
We do NOT currently verify:
- Criminal records
- Employment history
- Education claims
- References
3.3 Approval Timeline
Processing time: 3–7 business days
Approval: Your profile goes live; you can start accepting bookings Rejection: We inform you of the reason; you may reapply after addressing concerns3.4 Rate Approval
- Rates up to HK$1,000/hour: Auto-approved
- Rates above HK$1,000/hour: Require admin approval
High rates may face additional review to ensure legitimacy.
4. Fee Structure
4.1 How Platform Fees Work
Client Side:- Client pays booking amount + 10% platform fee
- Example: HK$400 booking → client pays HK$440
- You receive booking amount - 6% platform fee
- Example: HK$400 booking → you receive HK$376
- 10% from client + 6% from uncle = 15.4% total
- Example: Platform keeps HK$64 on HK$400 booking
4.2 Fee Justification
Platform fees (15.4% total) are competitive and cover:
- Booking facilitation and matching
- Secure payment processing
- Escrow system (protects you from non-payment)
- Messaging and communication platform
- Dispute resolution
- Customer support
- Platform development and maintenance
4.3 Example Calculation

You effectively keep 94% of your agreed rate.
4.4 Additional Income
You can negotiate directly with clients for:- Travel reimbursement
- Meal costs (if dining together)
- Event or activity fees
- Extended time charges
- Other agreed-upon expenses
These are paid directly and not subject to platform fees.
5. Payment & Withdrawals
5.1 Escrow System

- Earnings accumulate in your wallet
- View balance anytime in your dashboard
- Funds available for withdrawal
5.3 Withdrawing Funds
Minimum withdrawal: HK$100 Process:5.4 Tax Reporting
Your responsibility:- Report all income to Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department
- File profits tax return (if income exceeds threshold)
- Maintain accounting records
- Pay your own taxes
- Payout records available for download
- Monthly and annual earnings summaries
- Transaction history for tax purposes
- Withhold taxes from your earnings
- File tax returns for you
- Provide tax advice
Consult an accountant for your tax obligations.
5.5 Mandatory Provident Fund
If your relevant income exceeds HK$7,100/month (from all sources):
- You must contribute to MPF
- You must enroll in an MPF scheme
- We do NOT make contributions for you
- Consult an MPF provider or accountant
6. Profile & Service Standards
6.1 Profile Requirements
Your profile must:
- Display your real name (or professional name)
- Include clear, recent photos (no filters or group photos)
- Provide honest, accurate information
- List services and activities you offer
- Disclose any relevant restrictions
- Sexually suggestive photos or text
- False credentials or claims
- Photos of other people
- Copyrighted images without permission
6.2 Service Standards
You agree to:
- Be professional and respectful
- Arrive on time (within 15 minutes of agreed time)
- Honor confirmed bookings (unless emergency)
- Respond to messages within 24 hours
- Maintain good hygiene and appropriate dress
- Follow agreed-upon plans
- Respect client boundaries
- Arriving intoxicated or under the influence
- Sexual advances or inappropriate behavior
- Harassment or discrimination
- Violence or threats
- Illegal activities
- Soliciting off-platform payments (cash, bank transfer, etc.)
- Promoting competing platforms
7. Service Boundaries
7.1 What IS Companionship
Appropriate services:- Social companionship (meals, events, shopping)
- Mentoring and life advice
- Career and business guidance
- Hobby and activity participation
- Emotional support and listening
7.2 What IS NOT Companionship
Prohibited services:- Sexual services or romantic relationships
- Any illegal activities
- Professional services requiring license (medical, legal, financial)
- Activities violating Hong Kong law
7.3 Physical Contact
Appropriate:- Handshakes
- Friendly hugs (if both parties comfortable)
- Pat on shoulder or back
- Light touch (supportive gesture)
- Beyond social norms
- Intimate contact
- Any touch without consent
8. Safety for Uncles
Your safety is your responsibility. We do not supervise bookings.8.1 During Bookings
- Meet in public places initially
- Trust your instincts
- End booking if uncomfortable
- Keep phone charged and accessible
- Stay alert
8.2 Reporting Issues
If a client:
- Harasses or threatens you
- Behaves inappropriately
- Attempts to harm you
- Defrauds you
9. Cancellation Rules
9.1 Uncle-Initiated Cancellation
24+ hours before booking:- Warning recorded on your account
- Client receives full refund (including platform fee)
- You receive no payment for this slot
- 30-day account suspension
- Client receives full refund + HK$100 voucher
- You receive no payment
- Permanent account termination
- Client receives full refund + HK$200 voucher
- Account permanently banned
9.2 Force Majeure (No Penalty)
Full refund to client, no penalty to you for:
- Typhoon Signal 8 or above
- Black Rainstorm Warning
- Government-mandated restrictions
- Medical emergency (with proof)
- Serious family emergency (with proof)
10. Disputes & Client Complaints
10.1 If Client Files Dispute
A client may dispute a charge if they claim poor service.
Our review process:- Full refund to client (no payment to you)
- Partial refund (you receive less)
- No refund (you keep payment)
11. Non-Exclusivity & Competition
You can work for other platforms and have other jobs.- You are not exclusive to Uncle Rental
- You can be on competitor platforms simultaneously
- You can have full-time employment elsewhere
- No non-compete agreement applies
This non-exclusivity proves your contractor status.
12. Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to:

- Demand off-platform payments (cash, bank transfer)
- Create fake bookings for income
- Misrepresent your background or qualifications
- Attempt to circumvent platform fees
#### Harassment & Discrimination
- Harass or threaten clients
- Discriminate based on protected characteristics
- Stalk or dox (share personal information)
#### Illegal Activities
- Participate in any illegal activity
- Violate Hong Kong law
- Engage in sexual or escort services
- Use platform to facilitate crimes
13. Account Suspension & Termination
13.1 Suspension
We may suspend your account for:
- Investigating complaints
- Policy violations
- Multiple cancellations
- Safety concerns
13.2 Permanent Termination
We may permanently ban you for:
- Sexual misconduct
- Violence or threats
- Fraud or scams
- Repeated policy violations
- Fake credentials
- Soliciting off-platform payments
13.3 Closure by You
You can close your account anytime via Settings → Close Uncle Account.
Effect: Profile removed within 7 days; outstanding earnings processed.14. Insurance & Liability
14.1 We Recommend Insurance
Optional but recommended:- Public liability insurance (accidents, injury claims)
- Professional indemnity (if providing advice)
- Typical cost: HK$1,000–3,000/year
14.2 We Are NOT Liable
We are not responsible for:
- Your actions or conduct
- Injuries during bookings
- Disputes with clients
- Your negligence
- Off-platform interactions
15. Intellectual Property
15.1 Our Content
All platform content is owned by Uncle Rental.
You may NOT:
- Copy platform content
- Use our logos without permission
- Create derivative works
15.2 Your Content
When you post profile info, photos, or responses:
- You grant us license to use your content
- We can feature you in marketing
- We can moderate or remove content
16. Tax & Legal Obligations
16.1 Self-Employed Business
You must:- Declare income to Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department
- File profits tax return annually
- Keep accounting records
- Pay your own taxes
16.2 MPF Contributions
If applicable to you:- Register with MPF scheme if relevant income >HK$7,100/month
- Make quarterly or annual contributions
- We do NOT make contributions for you
16.3 Business Registration
If required:- Register your business with appropriate authorities
- Obtain business registration certificate (if applicable)
- Maintain proper records

17. Disclaimer & Liability

Key points:- Platform provided "as is" without warranties
- Maximum liability: HK$10,000 or 6 months of your earnings (whichever lower)
- You indemnify us from user claims
- We are not liable for client conduct
18. Governing Law
Jurisdiction: Hong Kong SAR Applicable Law: Hong Kong law Courts: Hong Kong courts have jurisdiction Language: English version prevails19. General Provisions
19.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, Privacy Policy & Disclaimer, and Cancellation Policy constitute the entire agreement.
19.2 Severability
If any provision is invalid, remaining provisions stay in effect.
19.3 Amendments
We may update these Terms with 30 days notice.
